Joseph Pergolizzi, MD, MBA. Co-founder and Director
Dr. Pergolizzi has extensive academic, clinical, and business achievements related to his lifelong interest in advancing medical science and the practice of modern global healthcare. He has gained a strong reputation as an experienced, results-oriented C-level leader with a particular focus on new companies. He has held various Board of Director and C-level positions in private and public companies. He is able to leverage his significant medical expertise, regulatory experience, and business skills to build a strong track record of success in many fields in the healthcare industry. Dr. Pergolizzi is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Native Cardio, an innovative cardiovascular device company and C.O.O of NEMA Research, Inc., a specialty CRO. He has served as a consultant to the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the US Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Pergolizzi earned a B.S. in chemistry from St. John's University and an M.D. with highest honors from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesia at Georgetown University School of Medicine and a clinical research fellowship in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Pergolizzi graduated summa cum laude and was valedictorian earning an M.B.A. in healthcare management and policy from the University of Miami Herbert Business School. Dr. Pergolizzi has published over 300 peer-reviewed medical articles and is frequently invited to share his presentations at scientific conferences worldwide.
Young D. Kim, MD, Board Member and Co-founder
Dr. Kim is former Chairman and Professor, Department of Anesthesia, Georgetown University Medical Center 2004-2012. Dr. Kim is a former NIH researcher with over 40-years of cardiovascular anesthesia clinical and research experience. Dr. Kim has been awarded multiple research grants for his work and has exhibited his findings at numerous scientific conferences. Dr. Kim is the author of over 150 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and platform presentations in his areas of interest and expertise. He is an internationally recognized expert and is in demand as a lecturer. He holds global patents for his innovations.

Myles P. Dempsey, Former Board Member
Native Cardio proudly recognizes the late Myles P. Dempsey for his service on our Board of Directors and his instrumental role in advancing the company. Myles brought decades of entrepreneurial and business leadership experience to Native Cardio, along with a deep commitment to supporting innovative medical research. His insight, guidance, and support contributed meaningfully to the advancement of Native Cardio and remain an important part of our history.
Myles joined the Native Cardio Board in February 2019. He was the founder and former CEO of Tech Air, which he led for more than 30 years before its sale to CI Capital Partners. He was also a longtime supporter of medical research initiatives at leading academic institutions.
